Athletics day
Last week on Friday the 10th of November we had our school Athletics held on the school field. We were lined up in girls and boys line in years 1 - 8 ready to start off our day. Everyone was dressed in their team colours, even the teachers were dressed. To start of the day we started with a prayer then a korero. After a couple of minutes waiting we were dismiss to go and start our first station.
First the year 8 girls attended the javillian station. Everyone tried their personal best. Watching all the other girls have a try made me have the chills. Waiting anxiously for my turn. Eventually it was my turn to have a go. The javillian didn’t go as far as I wanted but at least I did my personal best. Time went on and the hooter went for us to move stations.
My least favourite station was the tug-o-war because the green team which I’m in kept on losing from the other teams. Plus it’s sore when you pull the rope towards you when you're playing against other teams.
My Favourite highlight of the day was the relay which we had at the end. The first relay we had was against all the team colours, Hokule'a green, Hikianalia yellow, Hine moana blue and Te Aurere red. The yellow team came 1st, blue 2nd, green 3rd and red 4th. The second relay was against the students, teachers and parents. Us students were the champion of that relay followed by the parents and then teachers. We ended the day off well. After watching the relay I was breath less because it was a close game.
This year’s Athletics was really fun and memorable. Even tho I didn’t places anything I still did my personal best. This was my final athletics at Pt England school and it turned out to be wonderful. No matter what keep on going.

Launching your Future
Today we had a guest speaker, Mr Patterson come and talk to us about launching your future. He talked about the word A + I = M which stands for aspiration, Inspiration and motivation. This means Aim for success. We learnt to be a giver instead of being the person who likes to take and think about themselves.
One of the story Mr Patterson discuss with us was about a 11 year old student from Manurewa Intermediate who found a homeless man crying beside the Lea bank shop. He stopped by to see if he was okay. The homeless man respond saying that he lost he's job, his marriage and had no where to stay. Uili the 11 year old student gave the homeless man his lunch money and lunch for two weeks without telling anyone. Everyday Uili would visit the homeless man. One day the homeless man walked to school with Uili and told the school about the kindness he had been doing. Uili was rewarded with a golden certificate which is only handed out once a year for the kid who does the most kindest thing.
We talked about what our dream job would be in the future. You have to set a goal for you to succeed. If you want something you have to work hard and earn it. What do you want to be in the future?

Film festival secrets
Our class Room 4 decide we were going to do a Food tasting movie for our Manaiakalani Movie film festival. We didn't know what we were going to eat so it was a bit scary Waiting. As each groups of three went to go and film, The rest of room 4 waited Patiently for there turn. Finally it was my turn to go and try the mystery foods. I was excited!!
Waiting anxiously for Mrs Judd to hand the mystery food or drink on the table. My eyes were pitch black while I tried to find the mystery object in front of me. Mrs Judd handed a cup with liquid in it.Taking the cup and drinking what tasted liked Rock melon. Wesley who was sitting next to me was a bit dramatic and almost spat the who drink out. That would of been gross if he had spat it all over me. I was uncomfortable with the two students who were sitting with me because they were both boys. That's why I didn't really like to say anything. Then Mrs Judd said ''go'' which means you have to guess what we thought we were drinking. My guess was Rock melon. I wonder if I was right? To find out what we ate, watch the film festival movies which will be held next term.

Speech Final - Team 5
Last week on Friday we held a speech competition in our team 5 street. Everyone sat in the street waiting to hear all the wonderful speech's the contestants wrote which were from each literacy class.
All the contestants including me sat nervously on the chair feeling like our head's was gonna exploded.
The first person to present there speech was Amelia. Her speech was about how her nana away's smiled when she came to clean up the school at Riverina. Until one day her nana became very ill and stop coming to clean up the school. Sadly her nana pass away, Amelia then realize the reason her nana was smiling was because her nana away saw her sweet, sassy grand daughter Amelia.
My Favourite speech was Yvonne's one. It talk about tips about how your interested in learning but your not. Tip number 1# was to sit in the front of the class room so the teacher thinks you are listening. Tip number 2# just put your hands up even though you don't know the answer, but there will always be that one person who call out so just pretend that was your answer the whole time. I really like her speech because she presented her speech well and it something you can do to trick your teacher in pretending that you interested but you not.
Out of 15 students student who present there speech every single speech was brilliant. Between these 15 speech finalist there are going to be two out of those different people who will present there speech in front of the whole. Good luck to all the speech finalist.

Speech_ Highschool
Being the juniors again
Highschool; Even the thought of it makes me shiver.
You first walk into high school you have a sinking feeling you’re gonna get bullied. Everyone staring at you with their evil grins. Seniors towering over you, making you feel like an ant in a classroom.
Trying to find your way to all your different classes, feels like a mouse running through a maze. Lugging your heavy bag around all day, feeling like your neck is about to break.
Well most people think that for a reason.
You don’t fit in, you’re dumb and you’re not popular at all!
Luckily for you, all the stuff I said is not true! It might be how you feel on the first day, but that feeling won’t last!
Starting high school can be really hard but there are positive ways we can start high school off well.
Meeting new friends and teachers is a great start off your first day. Saying something positive to people about how their new hair looks or how they have nice teeth. (Which would be weird to say.)
It is nerve wracking being the juniors again, after being the leaders of the school for so long. Just like the day you first started primary school. I bet all you boys bawled your eyes out.
But high school might not be so bad after all.
You thought for a second that was the only good things about high school. Well you're wrong. Think about the tuckshops where your stomach leads you to it. Where all your money goes but leaves you with a good feeling in you stomach. Think about the different classes that you will attend. Classes you may have never heard about but will eventually may be your favourite subject in high school. Luckily there are heaps of subject that you can pick from so that there’s not only reading, writing and maths to learn about and also the different friends you can meet in those classes. How about the opportunities to represent your school in sports, to show others that you don’t only have the skills in school but sports too. In High school you get treated differently because high school is a step up for you to manage your own self. It’s a high school life you’ll have to get use to it eventually.
