Maths Problems

This week we have been learning about B.E.D.M.A.S which means Brackets,
Exponents,Division,Multiplication,Addition and Subtraction. When solving
a B.E.D.M.A.S equation, you have to follow the steps of Bedmas. That's how
                                    you solve your answer.

Athletics day

Last week on Friday the 10th of November we had our school Athletics held on the school field. We were lined up in girls and boys line in years 1 - 8 ready to start off our day. Everyone was dressed in their team colours, even the teachers were dressed. To start of the day we started with a prayer then a korero. After a couple of minutes waiting we were dismiss to go and start our first station.

First the year 8 girls attended the javillian station. Everyone tried their personal best. Watching all the other girls have a try made me have the chills. Waiting anxiously for my turn. Eventually it was my turn to have a go. The javillian didn’t go as far as I wanted but at least I did my personal best. Time went on and the hooter went for us to move stations.

My least favourite station was the tug-o-war because the green team which I’m in kept on losing from the other teams. Plus it’s sore when you pull the rope towards you when you're playing against other teams.

My Favourite highlight of the day was the relay which we had at the end. The first relay we had was against all the team colours, Hokule'a green, Hikianalia yellow, Hine moana blue and Te Aurere red. The yellow team came 1st, blue 2nd, green 3rd and red 4th. The second relay was against the students, teachers and parents. Us students were the champion of that relay followed by the parents and then teachers. We ended the day off well. After watching the relay I was breath less because it was a close game.

This year’s Athletics was really fun and memorable. Even tho I didn’t places anything I still did my personal best. This was my final athletics at Pt England school and it turned out to be wonderful. No matter what keep on going.

Fraction problems

WALT: identify fractions: part of a whole. I have been learning about fraction
equations. The shaded boxes tells you the amount of numbers that are in the
numerator. The amount of boxes in the line all together is the amount that
gives you the answers to the denominator of the fractions.

Hearty Facts W3 & 4

I have been learning to find information from the text to find the answers.

Launching your Future

Today we had a guest speaker, Mr Patterson come and talk to us about launching your future. He talked about the word A + I = M which stands for aspiration, Inspiration and motivation. This means Aim for success. We learnt to be a giver instead of being the person who likes to take and think about themselves.

One of the story Mr Patterson discuss with us was about a 11 year old student from Manurewa Intermediate who found a homeless man crying beside the Lea bank shop. He stopped by to see if he was okay. The homeless man respond saying that he lost he's job, his marriage and had no where to stay.  Uili the 11 year old student gave the homeless man his lunch money and lunch for two weeks without telling anyone. Everyday Uili would visit the homeless man. One day the homeless man walked to school with Uili and told the school about the kindness he had been doing. Uili was rewarded with a golden certificate which is only handed out once a year for the kid who does the most kindest thing.

We talked about what our dream job would be in the future. You have to set a goal for you to succeed. If you want something you have to work hard and earn it. What do you want to be in the future?
